About Us
Welcome to the Village of Blue Mounds! We're less than 20 miles from the west side of Madison -not far from all of the things a Univeristy city offers, like shopping, sports, and events. But we're far enough away to have a "small town / good neighbors" vibe! The village has under 1,000 people and is run by a board of trustees and a village president.
The Village of Blue Mounds is near several recreation areas just a mile away. Brigham County Park has a rustic campground, shelters, and playground. Blue Mounds State Park has 20 miles of trails, a campground, and views from the highest point in the region. Also nearby are Stewart Lake County Park (4 mi) and Governor Dodge State Park (14 mi).
Other nearby attactions include Cave of the Mounds, a natural limestone cave with many mineral formations. The Military Ridge State Trail, a 40-mile trail connecting Madison to Dodgeville, passes right through the Village.
Tyrol Basin is 5 miles away: skiing and tubing in the winter, disc golf and more in the summer. Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin is just 20 miles away. Deer Valley Lodge (golf, indoor waterpark, hotel) is 4 miles away in Barneveld, WI.
