Sanitation & Recycling

The Village of Blue Mounds contracts with Republic Services for trash collection and recycling.  Trash is collected weekly; recyling is collected bi-weekly. Trash collection is billed to residents by the village monthly, along with water and sewer.

Residents will have a 95-gallon container for trash and another for recycling. Please place containers by the curb the evening before collection day.  Items for collection must fit within the containers.  Large and hazardous items cannot be disposed of as regular trash.  Examples include furniture, appliances, tires, auto batteries, construction materials, syringes, TVs and microwaves.  See the links below for Republic Service or Dane County for more info on disposing of non-household and hazardous waste.

Prescription meds may be disposed of in a MedDrop box located in the Village Office (first empty pills from plactic bottles into a plastic baggie).  Latex paint may be disposed of as regular trash if the paint is completely dried out.  Oil and emanel paints may not go in your regular trash.
