Spring Cleanup

Annual Spring Cleanup - 2026

The date of the 2026 Spring Cleanup has been set for Saturday May 2nd. The hours are
from 8 a.m. until noon at the Public Works Garage located at 10961 County Highway ID.
This opportunity is only for residents of Village of Blue Mounds.
If you have any items listed on the back of this page after the 2026 Spring Cleanup, you
will need to contact Republic Services directly to arrange for pickup and payment for
those items. Their number is 800-626-1915.
The Village does have a compost area; however, we need to restrict it to village
residents, as we do NOT have room for commercial landscapers and especially those
that bring waste from sites outside of the Village. The compost area is located beyond
the salt shed for leaves and grass clippings. THIS IS NOT A DUMP - NO GARBAGE, please
put the compost in the back of the container. Please place your branches (maximum 8
feet long) very close to and parallel with the curb every other Thursday starting May
7th for pickup by Public Works employees and ending October 30th. Any yard waste,
grass, or weeds co-mingled with branches will not be picked up as these items cannot
be put through the chipper. Tree limbs and branches can also be dropped off to the
south of the compost area. We do not pick up leaves.
If you have any waste oil such as cooking oil, engine oil, antifreeze or any other
hazardous material or chemicals do not dump these items down the drain as it harms
our wastewater treatment plant, instead call Public Works, at 576-0036 or 577-4694,
and they can assist you in disposing of these items.

PAINT
Paint will be accepted only in a dry state. If you have paint to dispose of, take the lid off
the paint can in advance of Clean Up Day so the paint is completely dry. No paint that
still flows will be accepted.
Dumpsters will be available for the items you wish to dispose of that do not require a fee for
recycling. Donations will be accepted to offset the cost of disposal. There will be a fee of
$30.00 charged per load after the first load.
OTHER MATERIALS ACCEPTED:
Material (non-commercial only): wood, window glass, carpet, sheet rock, siding, shingles, old
lawn furniture, empty paint cans, swing sets, roofing, etc.
**MATERIALS NOT ACCEPTED:
Hazardous waste, chemical containers, yard waste, burning barrels full of ash will not be
accepted. Household hazardous waste can be disposed of at the Dane County Clean Sweep
Collection Facility. Their website is https://landfill.danecounty.gov/services/clean-sweep .
The village reserves the right to reject any materials that may be
deemed unacceptable.
